Let's be honest, we all know that salads are good for us. So, why don't more people eat them? Well, for this very simple reason: "They just (taste) so dang boring!" Right? I can just hear what folks say/think when it comes to salads ... "None for me, thanks. I just don't like the taste of salad. It's so boring." Or, "Just a small salad for me, thanks, they never taste as great as the main meal." Or, "I don't like vegetables." Right? Can you imagine folks saying things like this? Sure you can ...

Well, several years ago, I decided (in order to keep my weight down to look slim 'n' trim), that I've got to start liking and eating salad at least 3x per week (as a main meal). So, I thought long and hard about what I could do to MY salad that would make me want to eat salad (as a main meal) three or more times per week (for either lunch and/or dinner). Well, here's what I discovered ...

B.S. The Book by Bart Smith (www.BSTheBook.com)I discovered: (1) I didn't have to "settle" for just any ol' salad and (2) that I was free to "build my own" and add anything I wanted to make it taste great and to my (precise) liking! And, that's just what I did! As a result, I now have the perfect salad (ingredient combination) that I find to be such a joy to prepare and consume any time I want, day or night.

Having made this salad for so many others (i.e., friends, family, guests and skeptics), see for yourself, if this isn't the best tasting salad you've ever had! So, without further adieux, grab a plate (or bowl), your utensils and your appetite and let's dig in!

BART'S FAMOUS SALAD RECIPE!!!
"If you don't know how to make a salad like I do, that's B.S." Bart Smith

The following salad serves 1 person (as a main meal). Simply double it to serve two, etc.

In a normal serving bowl add/mix ...

Add what you like, but remember, only the best will do: (i.e., fresh, organic, etc.)

  • Spinach Leaves (lots of vitamins/nutrients)
  • Parsley (contains anti-oxidant nutrients)
  • Romaine Lettuce (optional; nutritious)
  • Broccoli (contains vitamins/nutrients)
  • Cauliflower (contains vitamins/nutrients)
  • Carrot slices (steam; releases vitamins)
  • Bell Peppers (contains vitamins/nutrients)
  • Celery (optional; contains fiber)
  • Cucumbers (optional; contains fiber)
  • Egg Whites (optional; contains protein)

Remember, the more colors (in your salad), the better! Reds, greens, yellows, etc.

Preferably, none of the following ...

  • Croutons (No nutritional value.)
  • Salad Dressing (Greasy, oily, etc. Instead, squeeze a bit of lemon. It's natural.)

Hot off the grill, add/mix in ...

And, my favorite, I like to add grilled* and seasoned** chunks of ... (YOUR CHOICE)

  • Chicken (1 breast)
  • Salmon (1 filet)
  • Ahi Tuna (1 filet)
  • Swordfish (1 filet)
  • Your Favorite Fish (1 filet)

Simply grill a piece of your favorite light meat, then cut it up in small chunks and sprinkle them on top of the salad. Mmmmm, so good!

*Grilled using a George Forman Grill
*Seasoned with Mrs. Dash Original Blend

SECRET INGREDIENTS:

  • Dried cranberries (1/2 cup)
  • Mixed nuts (1/2 cup, unsalted)
  • Red grapes sliced in half (optional; handful)

Make and eat this salad 3-5 times per week for the rest of your life! Sometimes, I'll have this salad as a main course during the middle of the day. Then, I might follow up with a light meal for dinner. Also, you can make this particular salad, eat 1/2 of it for lunch and the other half for dinner. It's all up to you. It really is/can be a filling salad.

The best part about this salad is the combination of dried cranberries and mixed nuts. Wow, I never (like to) have a salad without adding some dried cranberries and a few mixed nuts. The combination of the two really add variety and flavor to your salad. Instead of munchin' down on all those greens, it's sweet to bite into a cranberry now and then, or snack on a few nuts (while eating) your salad 'cause they're already in there!

Drink only water with your meal, no desserts afterward, workout and follow my diet and you can lose weight! I do, and so do friends and clients! It’s amazing! My diet formula really works! No B.S.

To weight loss and lookin' great!

WHAT DO OTHERS THINK ABOUT BART'S SALAD?

Frankly, I don’t care for salads and thought that Bart was full of B.S. when he bragged about his delightfully delicious salad concoction! Well, when he handed me my bowl of salad and I took the first mouthfuls my taste buds exploded and my heart sung! Bart’s salad was fresh, sweet, crunchy and healthy, and all at the same time! Absolutely delicious! I demanded a second helping immediately and gobbled that one up in no time. Bart, I apologize for doubting you. I am so thrilled to have enjoyed a simple, healthy recipe for a great salad (with you) that even I, an absolute klutz in the kitchen, can prepare with ease. Everybody MUST try Bart’s salad recipe at least once for a wonderfully healthy meal. You will love it and YOU WILL find time to make it over and over again! Thanks Bart!” Marlene Green, New York

I don't really like salad. But, with the slices of red grape in there, now I'm a fan! This (salad) is excellent!" Mike, Ontario, Canada
